The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) today was up by 0.5% to end at 1410 points. Most markets in the Asia region were up with the exception of Philippines Stock Exchange (-1.1%), as oil prices crossed the $30 dollar mark, indicating recovery conditions. The Dow Jones was up by 0.25%m while the DAX (German) was up by 1.2%.

In the oil markets today, Crude Oil WTI Futures gained 6.5% ($31.45) currently due to OPEC oil output cuts and signs of demand recovery from reopening of economies around the world. As I have mentioned previously, this will be a big litmus test for economies around the world to what capacity can economies reopen. If the global economy lapses back into increasing infection from Covid-19, we will see closures of economic sectors again.

For today, I have added Magni-Tech Industries Bhd (BUY; Target Price: RM2.57) as I think its undervalued and has good potential in its packaging businesses. Magni-Tech is currently undervalued at price earnings ratio of 7.0x at RM1.86, as my conservative valuation indicates that it should trade fairly at RM2.57 with a price earnings ratio of 9.9x. Magni-Tech is involved in the packaging business for food & beverage, healthcare, rubber, consumer household and electronic subsectors. The packaging will be important as consumers and businesses look to this to mitigate the safety issues of the Covid-19 pandemic.

For the Malaysian companies I am keeping track, most of them are still up. The best performing companies in terms of share price are Lotte Chemical Titan (51.7%), Padini (28.6%) and DKSH Holdings (10.8%). To date, the portfolio of companies I am keeping track on have improved to 8.9% return (15 May 2020: 7.0%). You can have a look at the companies I am keeping track on in the Google Excel sheet here or the table below.
